Technical indicators

RSI, MACD, Bollinger, ATR and related indicator definitions used across Finvestopia charts.

• Relative Strength Index (RSI)A momentum oscillator (0–100) measuring the speed and change of price moves. Above 70 typically signals overbought, below 30 oversold.
• Average True Range (ATR)A volatility indicator showing how much an asset moves, on average, during a given timeframe. Essential for algorithmic position sizing and dynamic stop-loss placement.
• Bollinger BandsA highly popular volatility indicator consisting of a moving average and two standard deviation bands. It mathematically identifies overbought/oversold levels.
• Moving Averages (SMA vs. EMA)Trend-following indicators that smooth out price data. SMA gives equal weight to all historical prices, while EMA reacts faster by weighting recent data heavier.
• Stochastic OscillatorA momentum indicator comparing a particular closing price of a security to a range of its prices over a certain period. Essential for spotting trend reversals.
• MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence)A trend-following momentum indicator showing the relationship between two EMAs of price (12 and 26), plus a signal line (9) and histogram.
